If you are a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends, you are sure to have noticed that Nintendo seems to have been dropping the ball a bit recently. Many games such as Sonic Lost World received very poor reviews and left gamers feeling letdown. One diehard fan has finally stepped up to the plate and created his very own fan game, namely Sonic World. Read on to find out if it manages to measure up to the original Sonic games.
The is a 3D Sonic the Hedgehog game with a twist, the twist being that it actually looks cool and works smoothly. While Nintendo’s ventures into the 3D world with Sonic have been less than successful, this game seems to explode off the screen and runs surprisingly smoothly. All of the most popular characters are represented and are ready to keep Sonic company as he goes on a quest.
It is clear that a lot of thought has gone into this game and that it is also a labour of love. Although there are only really two types of game play, namely treasure hunting and speed, there are plenty of different goals for players to complete along the way. this makes a refreshing change from certain official Sonic games where it often feels like the only real objective is collecting rings in various locations that simply seem to serve to prove how good Nintendo is at creating detailed locations without actually using them for anything.
For many Sonic lovers, Sonic World may well be the game they have been waiting for. Not only does the game feature many of the great elements that players loved from the first few releases, players also have the chance to add their own creativity to the mix and share something special with the gaming community.
It should go without saying that this is a fan game rather than a game from professional creators and players should not expect it to be perfect. However, players who are able to look past the few bugs that pop up here and there are sure to have a lot of fun playing Sonic World. Make sure you check it out soon before Nintendo decide to ban it.
